چکیده

We report a synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator that generates the sum frequency of the pump and the signal wavelengths. A single KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystal is used for both parametric generation and sumfrequency generation in which these two processes are simultaneously phase matched for the same direction of propagation. The parametric oscillator, pumped by a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser at a wavelength of 827 nm, generates a blue output beam at 487 nm with 43% power-conversion efficiency. The polarization geometry of simultaneous phase matching requires rotation of the pump polarization before the cavity. Adjusting the group delay between the two orthogonally polarized pump components to compensate for the group-velocity mismatch in the KTP crystal increases the photon-conversion efficiency more than threefold. Angle tuning in conjunction with pump wavelength tuning provides output tunability in the 484–512-nm range. A planewave model that takes group-velocity mismatch into account is in good agreement with our experimental results. © 1999 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(99)01309-0] OCIS codes: 190.2620, 190.4410, 190.4970, 190.7110, 190.7220.

Tunable upconverted optical parametric oscillator with intracavity adiabatic sum-frequency generation.

We experimentally demonstrate efficient tunable upconversion by cascading optical oscillation and wideband adiabatic sum-frequency generation in a single KTiOPO(4) crystal, yielding red light tunable over a 6.2 nm wavelength band. The conversion efficiency of the 1064 nm pump to the red output was up to 4.7%, and with the highest pump power of 1.5 W we obtained 71 mW of average power at 637 nm.

Compact, passively Q-switched, all-solid-state master oscillator-power amplifier-optical parametric oscillator (MOPA-OPO) system pumped by a fiber-coupled diode laser generating high-brightness, tunable, ultraviolet radiation.

We report on a compact, tunable ultraviolet laser system that consists of an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) and a longitudinally diode-pumped Nd:YAG master oscillator-power amplifier (MOPA). The pump energy for the whole laser system is supplied via a single delivery fiber. Nanosecond pulses are produced by an oscillator that is passively Q-switched by a Cr(4+):YAG crystal. The OPO is pump...

Frequency Locking in a Degenerate Polarization Mixing Optical Parametric Oscillator

A polarization mixing OPO was demonstrated, that emits a single, linearly polarized narrow linewidth beam, fixed at degeneracy, independent of crystal temperature. The frequency locking is explained in terms of balanced roundtrip phase-matching condition. ©2005 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (190.2620) Frequency conversion; (190.4410) Nonlinear optics, parametric processes; (190.4970) P...
